 The Molepolole Magistrate Court today Tuesday arraigned two men on separate murder charges that occurred over the Easter holiday weekend.

Appearing before Molepolole Magistrate, Mr Johnny Baakile, the accused, a  62-year-old Modise Gasentsima and a 29-year-old Mr Kelebogile Dinake, were formally read their charge sheets and the particulars of the offences.

Mr Gasentsima was accused of murdering Mr Ofentse Tshepo Diphakedi on April 19 at Borakalalo ward in Molepolole while Mr Dinake was also arraigned for the murder of  Mr Thinkwell Mnkandala at Dikgonnye lands on April 17.

Magistrate Baakile heeded the requests of the state prosecutors, Sergeant Thatayaone Marope and Sergeant Pako Kgosimolao, and remanded both accused person in custody at Molepolole Prison until May 12th. 

The prosecution had argued that, given the nature of the crimes and the ongoing investigations, custodial remand was necessary for both men.

While the holidays were largely peaceful in Lekgwapheng, apart from the two murder incidents, the police noted an increase in house break-ins. ENDS
