Sport and Arts minister Jacob Kelebeng has appreciated employees of BWX Links Construction company for working tirelessly to ensure the completion of the National Stadium track on time for the FNB Botswana Golden Grand Prix on Saturday.

Kelebeng hosted employees for lunch yesterday to appreciate the workers for demonstrating the spirit of true patriotism.

“I want to tell you today that you are true patriots and you deserve to be celebrated, that when things were tough, you stood and defended your country,” he said.

Furthermore, Kelebeng said the nation celebrated their resilience on Saturday as the starting gun went off to signal the start of the meet.

“It was tough, at some point there was an option of taking the meet to Francistown, and I hurriedly came to the site assuring you that I trusted all of you to deliver the track, and you did not disappoint the nation,” he said.

He further said it was important to always recognise Batswana who sacrificed for their country. On other issues, Kelebeng said he was confident that the country would one day have world-class sport facilities.  He said the country would also have many projects aimed at building new stadiums as well as maintaining others.

“We are currently in talks with all the relevant stakeholders who can lend a helping hand in ensuring that we build new world class sports facilities,” he said.

BWX Links construction company representative, Kentse Khumotaka said he was happy that the minister and Batswana appreciated their resilience.

“We are Batswana as well and had anything failed, we knew the responsibility would be on us, hence we had to remain calm and complete the track,” he said. ENDS
