Kelebeng travels to India and China

29 Apr 2025

Minister of Sport and Arts,  Jacob Kelebeng, is on official trip from April 29 to May 13 to participate in international events that highlight Botswana’s role in the global audio-visual and sports arenas.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Sport and Arts, Kelebeng started his journey by traveling to India on Monday to attend the prestigious World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit 2025, which will run until May 5, 2025.

The summit offers a valuable platform for Botswana to engage with international stakeholders within the audio-visual and entertainment industries, fostering potential collaborations and opportunities for knowledge exchange.

Following the summit, the release says Kelebeng will head to the People’s Republic of China to participate in the World Athletics organising event. A key highlight of the visit is the official handover of the baton to Botswana, signifying the country’s hosting rights for the upcoming 2026 World Relays. This momentous occasion underscores Botswana’s growing prominence in the international sports arena.

Kelebeng will be accompanied by a delegation that includes officials from his ministry, the Botswana National Sports Commission, the Botswana Athletics Association, and other key stakeholders. During his absence, Minister of Youth and Gender Affairs, Lesego Chombo will hold fort. ENDS
