TAFIC back on top after hammering Chadibe

TAFIC have returned to the summit of the FNB Premiership log after beating Chadibe FC 3-0 at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium on Saturday night.

The Matjimenyenga Boys dominated the match against relegation threatened Chadibe and created numerous scoring opportunities as they continued an unexpected push for their first ever top flight title.

Two goals in quck succession by Botsile Kebaikanye and Amogelang Reetsang put them in a commanding lead at halftime, before inform midfielder Theo Shadikong wrapped up the victory with 17 minutes remaining.

TAFIC started on a high note but missed two clear-cut chances in the opening minutes as the Chadibe defence was forced to work overtime to contain the onslaught. In the 18th minute, Jean Lwamba missed another opportunity after catching Chadibe goalkeeper Emmanuel Keiditswe off the posts.

TAFIC continued pegging Chadibe at the back with Lwamba, Theo Shadikong and Botsile Kebaikanye mounting pressure on the opposition defence. Lwamba was denied by the post in the 36th minute after dribbling though the defence and the goalkeeper.

Pressure from the Matjimenyenga Boys finally paid off with two goals in a space of three minutes through Kebaikanye and Amogelang Reetsang in the final stages of the first half. Kebaikanye collected a pass from Rebaone Joseph and opened the scoring in the 42nd minute. Two minutes later, Reetsang doubled their lead.

The two teams attacked each other in the opening stages of the second half as the relegation threatened Chadibe fought hard to salvage something from the match. TAFIC continued creating more scoring opportunities, but found Keiditswe in outstanding form as he saved crucial balls.

TAFIC brought in Modise Modipe and Martin Daka in an effort to increase their attacks. Lwamba continued misfiring in front of goals as he shot over the posts in the 70th minute. However, Shadikong sealed the Matjimenyenga Boys victory three minutes later.

The victory ensured that TAFIC returned to the top of the log with 45 points from 23 matches. They are ahead of Jwaneng Galaxy, Gaborone United and Township Rollers through a better goal difference in an intriguing fight for the title. Chadibe remained languishing on position 15 with 15 points from 23 matches.
