 Botswana will host the inaugural Sport Business Summit from November 26 to 28 this year in Gaborone. 

The event chief organiser, Molefhi Obenne said in an interview yesterday that before the summit, they would host sport workshops and Dialogues from April 23 to 25 in different parts of the country. 

He said from April 23 to 25 they would be in Letlhakane to discuss topics such as sport governance and financial management, risk management and social enterprise and end the programme with a panel discussion and the Big Interview.

 Obenne said they would then move to Jwaneng on June 25-27 where their emphasis would be on strategic and change management, data analytics in decision-making, team performance, a panel discussion and the Big Interview. In Maun, from August 27 to 29, they would be focusing on areas such as technical development and athlete long-term development, coach education, diet, and sports science. 

Their workshops and dialogues, he said would then conclude in Palapye on October 23-25, where their area of focus would be personal branding, marketing, and public relations, commercial development and fan engagement.

 Obenne further said the workshops would serve as a platform for athletes, sports professionals, and stakeholders to learn from industry experts through interactions and sport dialogues, using case studies and real life examples in sport. He said they would discuss the future of sports in Botswana, best practices, and partnerships.during the summit. 

Furthermore, he said they were expecting various sport legends from in and outside the country, as well as current players to participate in the discussion and the Big Interview slated for every Friday at the end of each session. He said their target audience  was athletes, administrators, coaches, sponsors, partners, the general public, people living with disability and former sports legends.
