Commonwealth Karate Africa Federation (CKAF) has appointed Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) president, Mpho Bakwadi as the federation’s second vice president.
Bakwadi is expected to support CKAF president by coordinating the activities of the Commonwealth Karate Federations in the Southern African region.
Bakwadi said in an interview that he was happy to have been appointed to a higher office, adding that alone was a sign of confidence in him as an administrator.
Having represented the country in different international competitions and platforms, the 6th Dan black belt instructor said the appointment was not his personal achievement but a proud moment for Botswana.
The appointment, he said highlighted their growing influence and excellence in the global karate community.
Furthermore, he said it provided an opportunity for him to contribute to the development of karate across the Commonwealth, advocate for African representation and inspire the next generation of martial artists.
“I am committed to using this platform to elevate the sport and strengthen international collaboration. This achievement is for all of us,” he said.
Bakwadi, who is Botswana’s most decorated karate instructor, became the first Motswana to become a World Karate Federation Kata Judge.
Having been BOKA vice president before ascending to the top seat, Bakwadi is also well known for his youth development prowess. Ends
