Ruth Thomas, a beauty advisor and clothing and textile graduate, is Miss Botswana 2025.

Thomas who hails from Masunga, was crowned during the pageant’s grand finale that was characterised by elegance and cultural celebration at the Gaborone International Convention Centre last night.

Selwana Motsemeng and Girly Kookilwe were selected first and second princesses respectively. The finale brought together the nation’s pageant community, with attendees embracing the African regal theme in stunning outfits. Thomas’s journey to victory was sealed by her inspiring answer in the final round.

Asked about the specific, measurable and achievable goals she would set as Miss Botswana to drive positive change and how she would hold herself accountable, she emphasised that true beauty came from within, guided by intellect, values and purpose. She spoke about living a life of meaning and dignity, grounded in her deep Christian faith.

Just a day before the pageant, she shared on social media: “I stand amazed in His presence, resting in the thought that I am a daughter of a King. Word of the day is: You are like a city on a hill that cannot be hid, and so let your light shine that men may see the good works of your hands and give glory to your Father in heaven.”

Miss World Botswana 2024 Anicia Gaothusi had the honour of crowning Thomas. Gaothusi, who will represent Botswana at the 72nd Miss World pageant in Telanganan in India from May 4-31, passed on the baton with grace and encouragement.

Ahead of the grand finale, guests explored a beauty expo featuring stalls by makeup artists and beauty brands, showcasing the country’s thriving beauty industry. ENDS
