Jwaneng Leteisi Affair a learning curve

28 Apr 2025

The organiser of the Jwaneng Leteisi Affair which was held at Jwaneng Rugby Grounds on Saturday, Diphetogo Othusitse says the first edition of the event was a learning curve, paving way for a bigger and better one next year.

Even though the event did not live up to expectations owing to lack of sponsorship, Othusitse said the sizeable number of revelers who turned up have motivated her to work harder in the next edition.

“Since we intend to make this an annual event, this first edition was a learning curve and it will prepare us to plan better next time. We struggled with sponsorship hence most of the artists on our line-up are just contributing towards our philanthropic efforts,” she said.

As an artist, known as Kgarebe ya Setso in music circles, she also underscored the need for Jwaneng-based artists to collaborate on such initiatives and collectively contribute towards charity in their community.

Othusitse said the objective was to buy sanitary pads for learners in Jwaneng schools, and ultimately broaden the mandate to assist the less privileged members of society within the township.

“I believe if we keep persevering, more stakeholders and sponsors will come on board and this initiative will grow bigger and have impact on a lot of lives,” she said.

Meanwhile, revelers who braced the chilly weather were treated to performances by traditional music maestro, Ditiro Leero and My Star Season 9 winner, Motlha. Kgarebe ya Setso also led the pack of local artists who included Empress Eunice, Chikafala, Black God and Mr King. ENDS
