Top eight ready for grand finale

20 Mar 2025

Set to take place tomorrow at the Grand Palm Hotel in Gaborone, the long awaited Miss Botswana grand finale will bring together its Top 8 finalists who have successfully competed in various rounds for the final showdown.

What began as a dream for many contestants is now reaching the pinnacle. From nerve-wrecking auditions that attracted 70 young women from across Botswana to rigorous boot camps, the current Top 8 is now ready to walk the stage.

“The journey began with the Top 30 bush boot camp, a six-day intensive camp focused on building resilience, adaptability, and teamwork,” said Unaswi Moalusi, the public relations and administration assistant of Miss Botswana, adding that as for the Top 20 boot camp, the focus shifted to refinement and growth.

“As the competition progressed, the Top 10 boot camp focused on the final preparations for the crown,” continued Moalusi, revealing that this stage emphasised confidence, stage presence, and engagement with both the audience and judges to ensure contestants were fully prepared for the grand finale.

Addressing the surge of unexpected withdrawals from the competition by contestants and how they dealt with the negative backlash that came with them, Moalusi acknowledged that organising Miss World Botswana came with its fair share of challenges and that public perception was something beyond their control, but they focused on constructive engagement and continuous improvement.

“One of the biggest hurdles has been contestant withdrawals due to personal commitments, unforeseen circumstances, or the demanding nature of the competition,” said Moalusi, adding that while they respected their decisions, it required them to adapt quickly to ensure a strong line-up of committed participants.

“While criticism is inevitable in any public platform, our commitment remains to uplift, empower, and refine the Miss World Botswana experience for both contestants and the nation,” Moalusi shared, particularly through contests such as the Top Model competition where contestants took full creative and styling control, attaining Magdeline Angel Modipane a Top Model win.

“This year’s grand finale will be different in several exciting ways. Firstly, we are hosting it at the Gaborone International Convention Centre, a venue that provides a world-class setting for an unforgettable experience,” said Moalusi, adding that with the expertise of their trusted technical sponsor, Braveheart, the audience is assured of top-tier production quality from sound and lighting to overall stage design and feel.

“Every detail is being carefully planned to deliver a seamless, well organised and truly spectacular event that celebrates beauty, culture and the essence of Miss World Botswana,” Moalusi revealed.

In line with their African Regal theme, Miss Botswana will be bringing in two of Botswana’s biggest artists, Han-C and Chokoma, whose music celebrates the country’s rich cultural heritage. The red carpet will be at 5pm while the event will commence at 8pm. All activities will air on Botswana Television (Btv) and tickets are sold at P500 on Webtickets. ENDS
