The first Jwaneng Kiddies Festival and Family Picnic is scheduled to take place at Ko Shekeng Shisanyama on March 29.

Hosted by Uncle Dipopae, the event aims to provide a family setup entertainment, while at the same time resuscitating the local economy of the mining town.

“The event is aimed at uplifting the entertainment industry of Jwaneng, bringing people together as we have lots of activities and games that cater for kids and adults,” explained the organiser, Michael Sekaba, popularly known as Uncle Dipopae, in an interview.

With his vast experience of hosting kids’ entertainment over the years, Sekaba noted that the overall objective of this initiative was to provide a relaxed environment for kids and adults to bond through entertainment.

He noted that they would have stalls available for sale during the event, with some reserved for the youth to showcase their products and services. Games and activities planned for the day include quad bikes, jumping castles, play stations, horse riding and board games. This initiative is expected to be the beginning of a countrywide tour targeting Tsabong, Ghanzi, Maun, Palapye, Moshupa, Kasane and Orapa.

Sekaba noted that while preparations were at an advanced stage, they were still open to partnerships to ensure a successful event. ENDS
