Soke in Gaborone this March

24 Feb 2025

Soke, an event curated to celebrate African music and culture, is slated for Gaborone on March 1 at the Game City rooftop.
Soke event is a culmination of African food and art markets with some melodic sounds of Africanness.
“Soke is centred on African music and culture through well curated boutique events.
The initial Soke events have taken place in Cape Town and have also staged in Harare,” said organiser of the event, Thembalethu Hadebe.
Soke, Hadebe explained, is a Yoruba word meaning ‘up’ and therefore said they believe it speaks to the experience of African people across all the Diaspora, as they loudly celebrate their culture.  Hadebe said this event is expected to leave Gaborone patrons with a truly African, “Soke experience trying new food, and seeing new traditional items all in the spirit of Africa.”
Patrons are therefore encouraged to bring their Africanness to the event and immerse themselves in the rhythmic beats, rich flavours, fashion inspired by the heritage of Africa.
“It is a day time event, which promises an unforgettable experience,” said Hadebe encouraging patrons to add a touch of African flair to their outfits and embrace their rich cultural tapestry that Soke celebrates.  Tickets for Soke are available at web tickets. ENDS
