Radio Botswana presenter, music producer, actor and club DJ, Gouveia Mutasa, popularly known as DJ Gouveia’s newest single album, Mvura, is more of a prayer, a message of hope and a call for divine intervention for those in need.
“For me, music is spiritual. I don’t just create; I listen to the guidance of the spiritual realm. This album was greatly spiritually influenced and within a week, the song was done,” said DJ Gouveia in an interview recently.
He said Mvura carries a message of renewal and divine justice.
"The song Rain (Latter Rain) symbolises new beginnings, provision, and Yahweh’s wrath upon those with evil intentions,” he said.
DJ Gouveia said he sees the song as a prayer for those struggling to pray, a voice for the voiceless.
Response from fans and radio listeners he said was overwhelming, with listeners reaching out to share how deeply the song resonated with them.
“Some calls have even come from people in high places of power. That does not happen easily,” he said.
His commitment to creating soul-stirring music has been evident throughout his career.
DJ Gouveia has produced songs such as Mudana, Ambuye, Falling in Love, Haye, and Ngirozi.
He also runs Gouveia Soundz Ent and has previously worked on an album titled Alpha & Omega, which featured artistes from Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, eSwatini and Zambia.
Despite his continued impact in the industry, DJ Gouveia hinted at uncertainty regarding his future in entertainment.
“As it stands, things are blurry. I might be ending my entertainment journey soon to focus on something more quiet and private. A good dancer knows when to leave the stage," he said.
For now, DJ Gouveia remains dedicated to his craft, creating music that heals, uplifts and brings people closer to their spiritual essence. ENDS
