As the general elections are approaching, the political atmosphere is charged with tension that brings pressure to both politicians and voters.

The Last Laugh to the Ballot Box stand-up comedy show  to be held today is expected to infuse humour and laughter, as well as to spark an amicable mood of civic participation at the polls.

The host Onkgopotse Mugende, alias Mdala ka Tje, known for his talent in comedy will share the stage with equally talented comedians including Jethro Ndebele known by his stage name Umaga, Ndiye Richard known as Triccs, Umbambi Ndiwenyu alias Bambino, Lelentle Makhwaje as Young Rinyane and Bafana Letsatsi as Ribcracker.

Kabelo Tiro also known as Scavenja in the entertainment circle and comedian Brian Sibanda from Zimbabwe will also grace the show.

“We recognise the immense pressure that comes with elections, as such this comedy show is a platform for comedians to share the insights and observation of the local political landscape with the intention to lighten up the mood and allow politicians and voters to unwind amidst their hectic schedules of campaigns and other related taxing activities,” said Mdala ka Tje in an interview.

Mdala ka Tje also said the goal was to urge voters and politicians to find joy even during challenging times ahead of elections.

He added that the show also intended to foster a sense of resilience and connection among participants, as well as to remind them that despite different political affiliations, they are one and they should always find ways to celebrate the democratic process that had prevailed in the country over the years.
