 Fashion Without Borders (FWB) is back, and this year’s edition promises to be a landmark celebration, marking a decade of diversity in African fashion. 

The event will be hosted at the Grand Palm Hotel from 17^th-19^th October, showcasing the continent’s finest talent. 

In an interview with BOPA, the co-founder of the event, Tebo Bakwena Kabisoso provided insights into the various elements that will make this event an unforgettable celebration of African creativity and talent. 

Discussing the fashion show, she remarked that its main goal is to celebrate African excellence. 

She further elaborated that this year’s theme, “A Decade of Diversity: Celebrating African Fashion Excellence,” will set the tone for a vibrant display of creativity on the runway. 

“The fashion show will bring together designers from across the continent, each presenting their unique interpretation of Africa’s cultural heritage,” she explained. 

She said fashion lovers should expect to see bold patterns, vibrant colours, and modern silhouettes, all woven together with traditional African influences. 

Giving insights of the Kiddies Programme, which will take place on 18th October, she said this was also another way of Inspiring the Future of Fashion.

She also said the programme is all about nurturing talent from a young age. 

“By involving kids in both the design and runway process, we’re fostering their passion for fashion and showing them the endless possibilities that exist within the industry,” she clarified. 

Kabisoso said it would empower them to think creatively about their future in fashion. 

For the Masterclass programme, titled Learning from the Best, which is slated for 17^th October, she said it would focus on inclusivity, sustainability, and the business side of fashion. 

“We want to equip designers, models, and creatives with the tools they need to succeed, whether locally or globally. Sessions will be led by renowned fashion professionals, offering invaluable insights into making an impact both on the runway and in the marketplace,” she explained. 

Kabisoso shared that new, immersive elements are being introduced to make the event even more engaging. 

“We wanted to elevate the experience for our guests,” she emphasised.

With such an incredible line-up and the promise of even more impactful moments, she concluded that this year’s FWB was set to be a highlight on the African fashion calendar. 

She urged all not to miss the chance to witness this celebration of diversity, creativity, and African excellence on the set dates. 

Radio host and influencer, Leungo Pitse, will direct the ceremony and also former Big Brother housemate and model, Yolanda Mukondi, will grace the event among others. BOPA
