Miss Botswana 2004, Juby Peacock's mentorship and social work contribution to society were recognised during the launch of her book,The Chronicles of a Peacock.

The event was held at Stanbic Bank Accelerate Incubator on Friday and it brought together family, friends, colleagues and admirers, all eager to celebrate her accomplishments. One of the speakers, Pastor Kefilwe Gabatshwane of Centre for Change Church International and also Peacock's pastor, praised her for being an inspiration to youth.

She said many looked up to her and admired her humility, grace and unwavering commitment to guide those around her.

"Her demeanour has earned her wings. Everyone who interacts with her feels motivated,” said Gabatshwane who also remarked on how Peacock had upheld the title of Miss Botswana with elegance and strength.

As a former queen, she has carried the title with dignity all these years, maintaining her beauty inside and out, especially inspiring the youth in church and through social media, Gabatshwane continued.

Peacock's brother, Adrian Peacock who designed the book cover, wished her well and encouraged her to remain unapologetic about her identity. He urged her not to conform, noting that as an outspoken artiste and advocate for social issues, challenges would arise, but she must stay resilient.

A colleague at PEPFAR coordinating office, Yvonne Kgwarae also commended Peacock for her exceptional work ethic

. "Peacock brings professionalism and dedication to everything she does. She is a hard worker and an outstanding team player," said Kgwarae.

In her remarks, 40-year-old Peacock expressed gratitude to all who attended and thanked renowned poet Tjawangwa Dema for the support. She acknowledged Dema's significant contribution to the poetry scene in Botswana and how her internationally recognised work had influenced many.

Also she thanked Tiego Seitshiro a.k.a Teacoboy who had always been there when the book was being written. Peacock said the book was inspired by her late uncle, Christopher Ramsden, who first introduced her to the art of poetry.

She explained that her writing was heavily influenced by spiritual experiences, often receiving poetic inspiration in dreams. I can hear a whole poem in a dream, wake up and write it,she said, adding that sometimes a line or paragraph would come to her, and she would build the rest from there.

The Chronicles of a Peacock has seven chapters, each focusing on different aspects of life. It covers themes ranging from praise and worship to love, grief, nature, and Pan-African identity.

Some poems are dedicated to specific individuals, reflecting the personal nature of her work. Peacock hopes her poetry would offer readers messages of hope, faith, and a deeper understanding of God’s character, touching on the profound and transformative power of spirituality. ENDS
