Moruakgomo releases Heidi

Botswana’s jazz icon, Socca Moruakgomo, recently released his latest single, Heidi.
He revealed during an exclusive media listening session at the Botswana Craft recently that the song was a heartfelt dedication to his wife.
Moruakgomo said he was simply expressing his deep love for the wife through the song sung in three languages, being Sengologa, Carribean and English.
Also, he encouraged fellow musicians walk their journey with authenticity.
“You may not be getting gigs now, but know that they will come. Let’s keep learning as musicians and collaborate; Botswana has incredible talent,” he advised.
He said musicians like pastors, were called adding that God gave them messages to relay to people through song.
He said they were always searching for that missing chord, and the search never stops therefore artistes must not give up.
“Artistes, take care of yourselves. Eat well, sleep well and be honest with yourself. God has something for all of us. Be true to who you are and don’t have an identity crisis,” he said.
Moruakgomo’s new manager, Keotshepile Motsewanageng of Berry Heart Creations, said they were stepping into a new era for Socca Moruakgomo, where his personal brand became a lifestyle.
“At Berry Heart Creations, we are not just managing his music career; we are transforming him into a global brand that reflects sophistication, timeless artistry, and African heritage,” she said.
She said their vision was to create a lifestyle brand inspired by Moruakgom’s legacy, encompassing fashion, luxury goods and more.
Part of rebranding, she said was clothing.
“Expect products like high-end sportswear, signature timepieces, and uniquely crafted accessories that reflect Socca’s passion for culture and creativity,” she said.
She also emphasised that this move was about more than just merchandise. “We want to create an aspirational yet authentic experience for Socca’s fans. Every piece of his brand will embody the spirit of jazz, culture, and innovation,” she explained.
She also added that the new chapter would also focus on digital engagement and sustainability.
“By embracing digital platforms, e-commerce, and limited-edition releases, we aim to directly connect with Socca’s audience, creating an immersive and enduring brand that resonates globally,” she said. Ends
