WhySo Group Sundays set to thrill

25 Sep 2024

Fans of WhySo Sundays, an event by WhySo Group, can look forward to yet another showcase on Sunday to celebrate Botswana Independence Day to be held at the Pylon Park at Airport Junction.

Operating now for three years, the WhySo Group will have their second annual Independence event, with a headline act, Khuli Chana from South Africa.

“This year, we are partnering with a South African biggest hip hop festival Maftown Heights, bridging the gap between Botswana and South Africa through music and entertainment,” said event organiser and owner of WhySo Group Baanthata ‘Ban-T’ Mokgwathi.

Ban-T said they planned to host such events to celebrate Botswana’s Independence annually, following their first successful event in 2023.

This year’s event also signifies the historical ties between Botswana and Mafikeng, as the town was the capital town of pre-independent Botswana (then the Bechuanaland Protectorate).

The show also symbolises the importance of musical collaborations of the hip-hop or perhaps the motswako genre amongst artists from both countries.

This edition of WhySo Sundays is also a build up to Mafikeng’s hip-hop event, Maftown Heights therefore WhySo Sundays #RoadtoMaftownHeights.

Scheduled to perform on the day are Ban-T and Veezo, Zeus as well as Khuli Chana from South Africa and Maglera Doe Boy.

There will also be DJs on the deck including DJ Slim, TeddyIsNotADJ, DJ Fauz, Ms Daisy, Frostbite and DJ Quest. ENDS
