Twenty-four year-old Gomolemo Mmualefe and 21 year-old Alfred Khana, from Kgomodiatshaba settlement have been crowned Miss and Mr RADP 2024 Kgatleng District.

The coveted titles were awarded during a competition that was held at Artesia in the early hours of Sunday.

The two will represent their district in the national competitions, showcasing their skills and talents in the hopes of becoming national champions.

The runner-ups were not to be overlooked. Gallen Tlotleng and Dorcas Molapisi, both from Kgomodiatshaba, were crowned as first and second princesses respectively, while Thabang Khana and Bofelo Molapisi, also from Kgomodiatshaba, were crowned first and second princes.

In the traditional project portion of the competition, the contestants demonstrated their skills in traditional craft such as making meals on an open fire, leather tanning, and woodworking.

The contest came to an exciting climax of the final question, where each of the top three contestants were asked what they would do to bring positive change to their village if they were to win the crown.

The winners gave the same answer, saying they would promote government social and relief programmes such as Chema Chema, Thuo, and Temo Letlotlo, which aim to improve the lives of young people in their area.

With the talent portion and evening wear parade completed, the judges had the difficult task of selecting the winner from how they answered their question and how well they performed throughout the pageant.

After much deliberation, Mmualefhe and Khana were announced winners, much to the delight of the crowd. They were presented with their crowns, sashes, and bouquets as the newly crowned Miss and Mr RADP Kgatleng.

Miss RADP was established in 2013 with the aim of empowering young women in remote areas and harnessing their talents across different sectors. 

The pageant serves as a platform to showcase their skills and resourcefulness, giving them the opportunity to become socially and economically empowered. ENDS
