Mbungu-Wa-Kathimana society, the custodians of Mbungu Cultural Festival, has lined up a series of activities, starting Thursday, in celebration of the organisation’s silver jubilee.

Established in 1999, it aims to promote, develop and maintain the Hambukushu culture.

Mbungu-Wa-Kathimana society coordinator, Kgosi Dibebe told BOPA that the main event expected to be officiated by President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi would be held at Mohembo Ferry on Saturday.

About 20 groups as well as three individual performers are expected to entertain patrons with the Hambukushu songs and dance.

Dikgosi from Goo-Tawana, Chobe and Moshupa as well as Hambukushu leaders from Namibia and Angola and a Royal Highness of Lozi from Zambia are anticipated to attend.

Dibebe said Romelwa Choir of Ipelego Trust-Hika la Ngwanyana cultural festival from Moshupa would grace the occasion to benchmark.

The festivities will end with a cultural night on the evening of the festival, which will be officiated by Assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Buti Billy, Dibebe said.

Mbungu Cultural Festival is held under the theme: Transforming the Hambukushu Culture to the Future Generation. Ends
