Thousands of revellers packed the Molepolole Sports Complex for Magdelene Lesolebe’s second edition of Kgosi ya Mosadi music concert on Saturday.
Better known by her stage name, Charma Gal, the multi-award-winning artist enthralled the audience with her powerful vocals and electrifying stage presence.
True to her name, which translates to “A female King,” Charma Gal’s show captivated the nation and brought much-needed joy and celebration to Molepolole, a village that had been on the spotlight for all the wrong reasons in recent years.
Excitement and anticipation gripped Molepolole community through out the week. Social media platforms buzzed and people made their way to the stadium hours in advance, eager to secure a prime spot.
By 0200 hours on Sunday morning, the main gate was jam-packed with fans eager to catch a glimpse of the songstress. The audience was treated to an eclectic mix of performances, ranging from the beloved local artists Han C, Scavenger, Vee, and Culture Spears as well as talented South Africans, Team Delela, Trica Selala, and Ancestral Rituals among others.
Each artist brought their unique style and flair to the stage, delighting the crowd and keeping the energy high.
The Likhona-hit-maker in an interview after her performance said that the turnout was proof that locals appreciated and cherished their music. “It’s clear that Kgosi ya Mosadi has achieved its goal, which is to bring light and joy to a community that has endured much hardship and sadness,” she said.
Charma Gal debunked the myth that Molepolole was a hotbed for bad things, emphasising that while tragedies do occur everywhere, they were not exclusive to any one place.
The concert served as proof to the healing power of music and a reminder that, even in the face of adversity, the spirit remains strong. Ends
