Maitisong theatre was on Friday alive with praise and worship courtesy of Shinkie Keithokile and friends who delighted Gospel fans with soothing sounds during the Mmina Thoko fiesta.
The show was in two parts, with Boitshepo Tlhabiwe and Esther Grace taking to the stage in the first part while Shinkie closed the session.
The last part comprised fast tempo hymns with Khaya Sibanyoni, Omega Khunou and Shinkie as well as Xoli Mncwango whose spirit filled songs had fans singing along. Singers showed spontaneity, with Shinkie and Khaya sharing the stage and immersing the audience with an impressive performance, and Omega who at some point shared the stage with Shinkie.
Shinkie shut down the hall when he sang Moya Waaka, closing off the night after a much deserved dynamic display.
Mmina Thoko fiesta proved to be more than a show, but a praise and worship showcase that left the audience eager for the next edition.
“It was beautiful show and I expected this and beyond. Everyone here came to lift up the word of the Lord. We thank the people of Botswana for showing Shinkie some love, and also for supporting us. It is always humbling to come here and see people singing along to our Zulu hymns,” said Khaya in an interview.
Having tried various genres such as Amapiano, Rhythm and Blues, Khaya encouraged gospel artists who were still in confusion of which genre to venture into, to seek the Lord’s guidance.
He said Gospel music was a calling, and when an artist retraced their steps, then that was where they should be.
“Stay in the Lord, Gospel is something you cannot fake, you must stay in prayer, you must have a relationship with the Lord, and you must fast and read the word all the time for your ministry to be impactful. Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might,” said Khaya.
He encouraged aspiring artists to always be ready to showcase their talent as they never knew their fate. Ends
