Mmabesi Live Band sets bar high in arts competition

Mmabesi Live Band from Serowe were enchanting in their performance at this year’s Regional Arts and Cultural Festival held Saturday in Tatisiding.
The group will represent Central District at the nationals to be held at a date to be announced, competing with groups from other regions that also took part at the same level in their respective districts or regions.
Mmabesi left the audience yearning for more, a stunning performance that earned them first place in the live band category.
This, set the bar high for other groups that will be competing at the national level.
The band’s 2024 hit song, Letsatsi Le Thabile, got everyone’s attention as the competition drew to a close, their unique blend of contemporary music and Afro jazz the band demonstrated their mastery of various genres and were on point throughout the show.
Mmabesi Live Band’s dedication to honing their craft and pushing the boundaries of their sound solidified their reputation as one of the dynamic and engaging live acts in Botswana.
The Praise Legends secured second place with an impressive 78 per cent score.
Mmabesi and Praise Legends delivered outstanding performances, making it challenging for the judges to choose between the two.
The Praise Legends’ exceptional talent and stage presence were on full display throughout, and that earned them a well-deserved spot near the top of the competition.
Mmabesi Live Band public relations officer, Keolopile Mafa said since its inception in 2015, the group had been performing well in the festival, sometimes emerging at the top or settling for second spot.
“We are very proud of ourselves and we take these arts competition very seriously,” said Mafa.
He was happy with the group’s consistent impressive performance and encouraged Batswana to take it seriously as a means of generating income and self-sufficiency.
Government may not be able to provide jobs for everyone, making it crucial for individuals to explore alternative avenues for economic gain, Mafa said and added that the band’s success was testament to the power of dedication, hard work and creativity. ENDS
