Protea Hotel by Marriot Gaborone Masa Square has teamed up with the popular tea brand Five Roses to bring a spectacular high tea event for tea lovers on May 25.

In an interview with BOPA, Sales and Marketing Manager at Protea, Botho Mogami said the event, which draws inspiration from the International Tea Day on May 21, was planned to be a delightful and enriching experience for tea enthusiasts.

“The event aims to celebrate the cultural heritage and health benefits of tea while providing a much-needed opportunity for mental rejuvenation and social connection,” she said. 

She disclosed that the occasion would showcase Five Roses’ diverse flavours, as well as the rituals associated with tea drinking.

“Guests can look forward to exploring various Five Roses tea varieties, brewing techniques, and delectable treats while gaining insight into tea, life, and health from guest speakers,” Mogami said.

She explained that this would be the third edition of the event, which was inspired by a desire to celebrate and honour the rich cultural heritage and global significance of tea. She said after the pandemic, 

tea was recommended for its health benefits.

Nathan Pietersen, from National Brands Botswana highlighted the cultural significance of tea in Botswana, where he said it had traditionally been served to unwind and foster social connections. 

With the growing recognition of its health benefits, he said tea consumption had increased, making events like the high tea gathering even more relevant. ENDS
