Kgobeoeng snatches My Star 2024 title

Oratile Kgoboeng, AKA, Rati is the My Star Botswana winner for season 16. The 22-year-old aspiring singer walked away with P100 000 after securing over 16 000 votes.

In an interview after her victory, Kgoboeng said she had always dreamt of becoming a musician and that wining the competition would open doors for her to realise her goal of releasing an album.

She commended My Star director, Keabetswe Sesinyi for identifying and promoting talent among the youth, adding that  the My Star show provided that platform and opportunity. 

Kgoboeng also acknowledged her involvement with KTM choir and her  love for music  helped  hone her skills.

Assistant Minister of Education, Naniki Makwinja, highlighted the impact that past contestants of the My Star show have had, noting that several received scholarships and pursued their dreams in countries such as Spain, the USA and South Africa.

She also praised the My Star show for its positive influence on the youth and helping to divert their attention from social ills such as alcohol abuse while promoting and preserving Botswana’s cultural heritage through music.

The assistant minister congratulated all contestants who participated, acknowledging their sacrifice, commitment and perseverance throughout the journey. She also urged those who did not make it to not give up on their dreams.

Ndapiwa Maganyanbu secured the second position followed by Peace Quarshie in third place and Mpho Rammuso in fourth. Ends
