Cultural village to be completed through special funding

Tsetseng cultural village project is expected to be completed through special funding.
This project, which was initially funded with P800 000 from Constituency Community Project (CCP) in the 2018/2019 fiscal, came to a halt after the depletion of funds.
Letlhakeng Deputy Council Secretary, Mr Terrence Ntalabgwe said a decision has been taken to complete the project through special funding.
He said CCP funding is no longer an option because CCP funds were now dedicated to the improvement of conditions of the roads.
Mr Ntalabgwe was responding to the concern raised by residents through the Village Development Committee(VDC) about failure to complete the project due lack of funds. He conceded that the previous contractor’s contract had since been terminated due to shoddy workmanship.
The report was presented by VDC member, Mr Letlhomame Maphale on behalf of its chairperson.
On issues regarding the delay in the delivery of the administration block at Tsetseng Primary school, Mr Ntalabgwe blamed the contractor for the delay.
He said the contractor had already been warned and the expectation was to see improvement, failing which, the contract would be terminated.
He however noted that ‘termination is the last resort’ adding that the council was doing all within its power to empower local and citizen-owned companies.
In efforts to improve monitoring of projects in the district, he said plans were underway to engage clerks of works to be deployed in Takatokwane and Letlhakeng constituency .
Concerning the maintenance of the tribal admiration office, still at Tsetseng,he said expression of interest for the work was advertised, but unfortunately it was non-responsive.
He said the expression of interest would be re-advertised and if still no one from Tsetseng shows interest, the next step would be to widen the scope to neighbouring villages. Ends
