The highly anticipated Miss Primary and Secondary Schools Pageant National Finale took place on April 27, showcasing the incredible talent and beauty of young students from across the country.

The grand finale, held at Maun Senior Secondary School, was a glamorous affair with contestants from different regions competing in three categories, including traditional wear, talent showcase, and question and answer sessions, all aiming to impress the esteemed panel of judges.

After a night of fierce competition and nail-biting moments, the title of Miss Primary School was awarded to Sedilame Kotewa from Andrew Wellio Primary School, and tittle for Miss Little Primary was awarded to Osnie Pilatwe from Botswelelo Primary School while the title of Miss Secondary School went to Barati Sebokolodi from Maun Senior Secondary School.

The pageant not only highlighted the beauty and grace of the participants, it also emphasised the importance of education and personal development.

Each contestant shared their aspirations and goals for the future, inspiring the audience with their passion and determination.

In her remarks, Sebokolodi expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to represent her school and vowed to use her platform to advocate for quality education for all children and empowerment of the youth.

“Beauty pageants are not only for showcasing beautiful faces but they are a platform to showcase kindness, the beauty of a generous heart and reflection of what empowerment can do in the lives of young people,” she said.

She highlighted the importance of self-confidence and empowerment among young girls, promising to be a role model for her peers through engagements in chat groups that will enable her peers to discuss issues of social ills in the community.

In an interview, the Director of Miss Primary and Secondary Schools, Ms Duduetsang Mpudi, said the pageant is one of the projects of Miss Toddler and Teens Botswana, Katlego Mpudi, who will be representing the country in the international competitions in South Africa in September this year.

“Our aim is to unearth talent and serve the young people through mentorship and skills development as this pageantry also motivates the students to work harder in their academics and consequently building their confidence as future leaders,” she said.

She said the beauty pageants instill good discipline in the girl-child thus curbing social ills of teenage pregnancy and drugs and substance abuse as the students will be too occupied to even consider such.

Meanwhile, the Miss Primary and Secondary Schools pageantry is appealing to the public to sponsor the contestants as they are embarking on their roles as future leaders. Ends
