Clap and Tap music festival tomorrow

25 Apr 2024

The anticipated second edition of Clap and Tap music festival, courtesy of Mabaila Foundation takes place tomorrow at the University Botswana indoor Sports Arena.

The festival, popular among the young and old has proved that the genre was not only ideal at churches during praise and worship but was also a spirit lifter.

Director and Founder of Mabaila Foundation, Tshephang Mabaila said the idea was to also foster growth of Tap and Clap music genre in the country.

“We want to drive the message that the gospel music is not only about church and worship but ideal to foster cultural exchange and collaboration among artists,” he said.

Mabaila said some of the festival activities would include a candle light sermon in memory of the 45 ZCC members who perished in the bus crash while on a pilgrimage to Moria, South Africa on the eve of the Easter holidays.

Mookamedi Tube and Brown De-Brain Mosiapowa, two renowned Motswedi FM pastors will also deliver a sermon to rejuvenate souls.

To add more to the festival ambiance, legendary South African musicians Jub Jub, Rebecca Malope and Solly Moholo, as well as the Universal Kathisma group will perform along-side local Clap and Tap groups Dineo tsa Tumelo, Maatla gospel and Angels of God.

Mabaila is of the view that a diverse line-up of artists would meet expectations of all the attendees.

“We are hopeful that Jub Jub will match the energy levels of the youth while Rebecca Malope will take the audience back to the old days. Moholo is an all-rounder  whose music is enjoyed by all,” he said.

He added that the festival was also an opportunity for local clap and tap groups to learn of possible strategies from Kathisma group to evolve and for creativity.

Mabaila further said part of the profits generated would be channeled towards varied social corporate responsibilities. BOPA
