24 Apr 2024

Known for its extraordinary musicality the prestigious choir, KTM pitched a standard high against most of its peers, leaving the audience asking for more, during the gospel night concert in Gaborone recently.

The first session of the evening was a somber classic choral music depicting and dramatizing events leading to Jesus’ crucifixion; story meticulously narrated from Luke chapter 19 by a soprano singer while baritone singer had the role of Jesus sending disciples to get him an ass and the foal.

The two paid attention to the conductor, Lawrence Dube who also conducted the pianist, Richard Makwea; the choir came in and out to give emphasis to parts that needed vocal support.

Audiences burst out laughing marking their presence when the chorister playing Judas Iscariot was negotiating payment from the Pharisees and planning out Jesus capture.

“Lo tlaa mpha eng? Lo tlaa mpha eng?” he questioned in his tenor vocals.

The segment ended with Jesus capture and death which was narrated by Rev. Father Bolokwe to give the story a Christian perspective and meaning.

The second segment was celebratory of the resurrection and was alive with a band as the choir gave a contemporary gospel music flavor.

The contemporary segment pitched standard high against the renowned local Gaborone choirs such as Maikano Serinaders and Gaborone Youth Choir who may be stuck to choral music.

The choir producer, Gaone Seitshiro; a lead vocalist for Mosadi Ha e se Mmago, took over the reins to guide the stardom celebrated choir through the contemporary segment.

The singers in duets and trios rendered Ntate ke mang and Tla Mogolodi tla medley which brought audiences to live as they sang along.

The audiences got their hearts’ content as they were treated by a man who is making a name for himself as he had shared the stage with Joyous Celebration, Shinkie rendering a medley of Beulah land and Morena o ba Etele.

The serenade continued with Tshepo Lesole; an artist who had shared the stage with Joyous Celebration and Spirit of Praise, doing his best rendition of Nkabo ke le kae.

KTM Choir did not disappoint with the introduction of the home grown, talented Sesame who is also a double award winner; rendering her own, O ntataise Morena.

For the final wrap, the guest did not leave out the choir to do Na ke bo mang, a Zionist hymn that saw all giving a standing ovation as the song echoed on. ENDS
