Sunday Ultimate chill patrons and organisers have paid tribute to 45 Zion Christian Church members who perished in a bus accident on their way to a church conference in Moria, South Africa.

White balloons were released to the sky, to honour the departed.

MC Theo requested revellers, who were huddled together holding the balloons before release, to keep families and friends of the fallen victims in prayer and to do the same for Mapetla.

“Let us all take a moment and honour our fellow Batswana who lost their lives in South Africa, and also our industry friend, Mapetla who lost his life in a road accident last month,” said MC Theo.

The balloons were released while gospel songs played in the background. Patrons donned denim and white tops, a theme befitting the occasion.

Djs who performed at the event infused in their sets, a few gospel songs that spoke to the incident.

Sunday Ultimate chill is a picnic event established in 2018 and has over the years attracted a large following owing to its laid back ambience which allows patrons to relax and enjoy themselves after a hectic week while at the same time looking forward to a new week.

Patrons get treated to old school rhythm and blue songs, just to set the mood for the day but the tempo picks as the day progresses, to get revellers up and dance the night away.It is also popular for its themed sessions, which revellers never fail to honour.

The last event was held in August 2022 and themed: The 60s on the 20s.

“We are now back with living the millennials, where we take ourselves to the 2000s vibes and the theme for this event is Denim and White,” said event organiser, Tswelelo Maswabi, in an interview.

Maswabi said they were bringing in new reforms, to improve the quality of the event and this times around, ticket sales closed prior to the event and no tickets were sold at the gate.

“We need to plan for the number of people coming to the event in order to plan ahead for security, sound and car parking because those are an important part of delivering good quality event for our patrons,” Maswabi said, adding that they hoped to have the next Sunday Ultimate chill event in August.
