31 Mar 2024

Local Afrotech Djs Who featured at the Gaborone International Music Concert (GIMC) Afrotech 5.0 on the eve of Good Friday, impressed and presented fans with a memorable Easter Holiday. Djs Teaz, Hapex Guru, Lexx, Raul Bryan and Bo Kettle were part of list of artistes who gave revellers their money’s worth at an event that was staged at Gaborone International Convention Centre. A rose among thorns, Bo Kettle, born Bogadi Kettle, turned up the heat with her smooth paced afrotech beats and had revellers dancing the night away. Bo Kettle has proven her mettle in the afro tech space since her first GIMC afro tech gig last year. Calm, charming and all set for her fans at the 5.0 Easter edition, she delivered her assignment like a professional she is growing into. She kept her mixing finger well on pulse whilst engaging with her audience. South Africa's Sun El Musician and Culoe De Song did not disappoint either. Celebrating his birthday, Sun El Musician gave an uplifting afro tech set with hits such as Imithandazo, whilst Culoe De Song displayed a mind blowing set for his fans particularly with his No Contest hit, a combination of rhythm and melody that transported the crowd to the good old days while at the same time, appreciating the power of afro tech genre. In an interview following her set, Bo Kettle said she had not been in the game for long, but as someone who was artistic, she learnt fast. “It was a trial for me last year when I started with GIMC afro tech, and I am appreciative of the opportunity,”said Bo Kettle. She said the genre spoke to her as an African artist, with its spiritual connection. She believed she had perfected her craft, and was ready to produce her own music, with particular interest to re-mix and sample local folk songs. Bo Kettle also hopes to perform outside the country. “I am also looking into collaborations here at home, with talks already started with Amantle Brown. Her voice will just be perfect on an electronic music,” said Bo Kettle giving credit to Fish Pabalinga, organiser of GIMC Afro tech series. Ends
