The Gaborone International Music Concert (GIMC) AfroTech is back for its fifth edition. Taking place on the eve of Good Friday, the GIMC AfroTech 5.0 will be held at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) marquee bringing together Afro-House enthusiasts. South Africa’s Sun El Musician, born Sanele Sithole, will once again headline the show, alongside other heavyweights of AfroTech and 2step from Botswana and South Africa. 

Sun El Musician, a producer and DJ is known for his unmistakable brand combining Afro-House and Electronic Fusion. AfroTech lovers will also be treated to thrilling performances of Botswana’s AfroTech talents in Hapex Guru, Raul Bryan, Bo Kettle, Teaz and DJ Lexx. Whilst from South Africa, Culoe De Song, Africa Da Deep and Nurogroove are acts which will be performing on the night. Reflecting on the impact of AfroTech genre in Botswana music space over the years since 2004, Teaz, born Thapelo Koitsiwe, said Botswana has always been an audience of electro/dance music genre with the likes of DJ Fresh who had a series of electro music albums. 

“The inspiration and impact of this genre in our music space comes from far, and now we have great talents such as Kaizer, Benny T, Raul Bryan, Kiyoshima, Tau.BW and many others,” said Teaz, adding that some of them are producers of this genre. Tickets for the GIMC AfroTech 5.0 goes for P200 standard ticket and P800 gold circle. 

The gold circle ticket includes a Tanqueray beverage bottled drink with six mixers. ENDS
