25 Mar 2024

In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving creative industry, constant diversity plays a crucial role in driving innovation, igniting creativity and ensuring that brands stay relevant and competitive, says KBL marketing manager, Gaamangwe Ramokgothwane.

She said this over the weekend during an empowerment workshop dubbed ‘Yama-94 workshop series, a courtesy of Mantswitswidi Productions run and owned by multi award winner Han C in collaboration with Makgabaneng and other stakeholders.

Ramokgothwane, said consistently embracing diversity not only resulted in inclusive and representative content, but it also brought together an array of viewpoints, experiences, and ideas that pushed limits and questioned norms.

She said a diverse perceptive allowed better connections, with a wider audience and creation of content that resonated well with different backgrounds in creativity spaces, led to innovation and viable problem-solving skills among others benefits.

“Diversity in the creative industry is not just a moral perspective, but a strategic advantage and this can also challenge artistes to shift their focus away from customised art activities that in the long run limit them to what they already know,” she said.

She said a customised artistic pattern limited artistes and there was a likelihood for them to miss out exploring new techniques that broadened the perspective and understanding of the creative industry and also to foster inclusion and innovation.

Ramokgothwane added that diversify also paved a way to a robust creative ecosystem, which benefited not just individuals, but also communities and the county’s economic landscape.

She emphasised the necessity to adapt and positively leverage new-age innovation as one way to handle unemployment concerns, particularly among the youth.

She said while most youngsters had adapted to new forms of creativity in order to maintain the artistic scene fresh, dynamic, and continually growing, it was advisable for them to monetise their content as a means of cushioning themselves in the midst of unemployment.

The workshop held under the theme; Impact Through Creativity, was also set to assist youth find mentors to help them navigate through entrepreneurship circles, as well as potential collaboration opportunities with other stakeholders in the industry. ENDS
