Government has invested in the Department of Broadcasting Services (DBS) roadshow in partnership with Big Dawg Productions, as such artistes should take it seriously and explore the initiative’s benefits. 

The initiative geared to discover untapped talent across the country has potential to change local performers’ lives. 

Encouraging the artistes during the event at Mogoditshane on Tuesday, MP for Mogoditshane, Tumiso Rakgare said government had funded the initiative at the tune of P2.7 million in order to help grow the music industry in the country.

He went on to appreciate the director of Big Dawg Productions, Thato ‘DJ Fresh’ Sikwane for making the initiative a success and reaching out to upcoming artistes in Botswana.

The area MP further stated that while the roadshow was in Mogoditshane in quest to groom talent, artistes should bear in mind that nothing was given to anyone on a silver platter. 

He said they needed to work hard, avoid sitting and waiting for government’s handouts as that did not help anyone grow.

MP Rakgare nevertheless encouraged artistes to use the initiative and DJ Fresh’s expertise to grow their craft.

For his part, DJ Fresh advised artistes that nothing happened overnight and that they needed weekly plans for their trade in order to achieve their goals of becoming well-known artistes.

“Learn to wake up and make plans on what you want to achieve in your music and so forth,” said DJ Fresh.

He went on to state that rich people did not become rich overnight, but they worked hard every day to be where they were and without a plan no one could achieve anything in life.

During the roadshow the artistes showcased their talents and exchanged ideas.

Kgosi Keabetswe Dihutso appreciated and thanked DBS for bringing such an initiative to Mogoditshane saying it would also help fight drug abuse and crime.

He further said that the people in Mogoditshane finally got the feel and understanding of what was happening on radio and television in physical form. Ends
