Into Africa Easter picnic, a Dawn Sessions production, will on the Easter weekend host an all-star local act show in Thamaga at the Adashe Garden.
To be held on Easter Sunday, the Into Africa Easter Picnic will field the cream of Botswana’s entertainment in performance of jazz maestro, Nono Siile and sensational Juu Matere, who has since made Kgalagadi sound and dance fashionable.
In an interview, Juu Matere said the dance, termed Kgalagarian, which initially started as Zoma dance, and the sound, were inspired by rumba music and dance, but they fused it with their Shegkalagari culture to make it diverse.
Also, renowned disc jockeys in Lerato Modiega, Raul Bryan, DJ Verlaty, Swag Kids DJs as well as Romeo Tha Medley, among others, will keep patrons regaled after their hectic holy weekend.
The Into Africa brand has had three editions, which are celebrated every year just after the Christmas holiday in time to usher in the New Year’s Eve.
The Easter picnic session is the first under the brand, as the brainchild of a young entrepreneur, Thuso Mohurutshe.
Mohurutshe, who is the owner of a food outlet, Food Hub, said the idea behind an all-local act show was to prove that local talent was deserving of the Botswana entertainment industry.
Mohurutshe has demonstrated that an all-local act show was possible with his three previous Into Africa picnics.
The response from the patrons has showed that Batswana appreciate their own and are ready to contribute to the economic development of the creative industry.
Tickets for the Into Africa Easter picnic have started selling at the Engen Thamaga fuel point and 4Y Liquor Store at P80 for adults while kiddies tickets sell at P50.
There is free entrance for children under the age of five. ENDS
