Artistes in Kgatleng have been encouraged to work hard and commit to their talent to better their lives.

They were told that being talented was not enough to make them successful, but needed to augment talent with hardwork.

Speaking during the Department of Broadcasting Services Roadshow in Mochudi on Sunday, the director of Big Dawg Promotions, Thato ‘DJ Fresh’ Sikwane said such ingredients would help them realise the rewards of their work.

He added that in his musical journey over the years, he had learnt that nothing comes easy in life except by hard work.

DJ Fresh said artistes had to unleash their all in the work they did, be reliable at all times for them to be patronised.

He said he took his job seriously and his commitment had seen him grow in leaps and bounds.

He said the roadshow sought to identify and nurture talent, noting that there was abundant talent in Kgatleng that needed to be developed.

DJ Fresh also challenged artistes to invest their time in their work, saying it was through such virtues that he achieved his success.

Member of Parliament for Mochudi West, Mmusi Kgafela acknowledged the role played by the roadshow saying it unearthed a lot of talent that would help government curb social ills.

He said the role played by the artistes could not be overemphasised as they made songs that sent a variety of messages to the youth and the nation at large.

Kgafela implored artistes to take their trade serious as they could earn a better living from it.

One of the artistes who took part in the BDS roadshow, Fino Dambe alias Fino Dee said he got a lot of exposure through the show and thanked the organisers for giving artistes like him an opportunity to showcase their talent.

He said after his performance he got a lot of people asking for his number and to know more about him, which meant a door had been opened for him.

Fino Dee said he learnt music at a young age, and while at school he loved playing his saxophone, which had many revellers in awe.

Another artiste, Oteng Motshegwe, who sings RnB said he was happy to be among those who performed during the roadshow as it gave the likes of her an opportunity to showcase their singing ability while allowing them to learn and grow at the same time.

She said the show had also given her confidence as she had been struggling in that aspect, a characteristic that other artistes that had sent some of her peers hibernating.

Kgosi Bana Sekai of Bakgatla thanked DJ Fresh for embarking on the roadshow in his area.

Principal programmes officer in the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture (MYSC) Duncan Mongwaketse urged artistes to always be prepared to grab opportunities geared at improving their lives. ENDS
