Big Dawg Productions Director, Thato Sikwane, popularly known as DJ Fresh, has urged artistes to approach their work with dedication in order to succeed.

In his speech at the second annual national roadshow, organised in collaboration with the Department of Broadcasting Services, DJ Fresh expressed disappointment in the lack of commitment shown by some creatives. Having initiated the roadshow in Kanye the previous year, he said it was important for artists to consistently demonstrate their dedication and reliability in their work.

DJ Fresh emphasised the need for creatives to exhibit professionalism by being punctual and prepared for their commitments. He remarked that some artistes were unreliable, unprepared, and even fail to show up for scheduled appointments.

It is crucial, DJ Fresh advised, for artistes to always be prepared and to seize every opportunity that comes their way to showcase their talents.

“As creatives, we must take our profession seriously and always be prepared to deliver our best whenever called upon, as one never knows when an opportunity may arise,” he emphasized.

Furthermore, he stressed that hard work directly correlates with success and growth within the industry.

Despite these challenges, DJ Fresh commended the displayed talent of the artists in Kanye and highlighted the vast opportunities that can be harnessed from the pool of talent showcased during the event.

“After hosting 12 artists in Kanye, I was truly impressed by the incredible performances on stage,” he remarked.

In his welcome remarks, the Kanye District Officer, Keamogetse Segokgo commended the parents for the support they accord to their children, adding that all this support should begin from their homes in order for them to excel.

“We need to support them where they need us the most; let us not support them only when they are successful,” she said.

In that regard, he called for organisations to ensure support through engaging them to participate at their events in exchange for remuneration.

She commended parents who were present in the company of the artists, adding that Kanye has a lot of talent therefore he was adamant that the competitions such as these will go a long way in unearthing the talent.

For his part, Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture (MYSC), Southern District Coordinator, Moeti Gosisamang, thanked the DBS and Big Dawg Production for taking part and assisting them in their role of identifying and cultivating talent amongst creatives.

He shared that the move was in line with the Vision 2036 mission of the country mission of diversifying the economy, adding that through engaging DJ Fresh in this project, he was adamant that artists will learn a lot and further emulate him. Performance on stage varied from traditional dance, Hip Hop and RnB with upcoming artists amongst others such as Kgagaripa, Smokie, Alice, Strictly Afro Sound, Gape Bame Traditional group. ENDS
