North West District Council Chairperson, Itumeleng Kelebetseng has given Lesego Chombo his blessings as she competes in the Miss World finale tomorrow.
He commended Chombo for the great performance and representation of the district and the country at the Miss World pageant, saying she had shown that one’s potential was limitless.
“We are proud of your achievements thus far and we in Ngamiland wish you nothing but grace to bring the crown home,” he said.
Kelebetseng also appreciated some companies in the district for their generous support towards Chmobo’s beauty with purpose project, The Genesis project, saying their financial support would sustain the project and impact the community positively.
He said the project would help address challenges faced by the needy children and empower parents with skills. Wilderness Safari Company injected P150 000 into Chombo’s project, which the company said was aligned to its values and commitment to empowering children through its Children in the Wilderness programme.
The company commended Chombo’s efforts and wished her luck as she represents Botswana at Miss World pageant.
Meanwhile, Khoemacau Copper Mine partnered with Chombo during her visit to the mine last year and the mine had so far injected over P400 000 in support of Chombo’ initiative. During the launch of her project last year March, the mine management assisted with P250 000 as well as organised a fund raising dinner in collaboration with Cresta Maun and Air Botswana, which raised P80 000 towards sustenance of the project that aims to bridge the upbringing gap between the children in remote and urban areas.
The mine also supported Lesego Chombo Foundation launch in Gaborone to the tune of P15 000 February and has also financed her parents and sister's trip to attend Miss World Finale in India to the tune of P78 000.
Meanwhile, in an effort to demonstrate love and support towards Chombo, residents of Maun will throng Cresta Maun for Miss World watch party on Saturday.
The space would be limited to a total of 400 people and many residents have shown interest to be counted amongst those who would be witnessing Chombo compete in the international pageant. Ends
