Miss World finale beckons

Miss Botswana Lesego Chombo received a touching send-off from her family and well-wishers at Sir Seretse Khama Airport as she departed for India on February 17.
The 24-year-old says she is elated because the pageant will give her an opportunity to showcase her project, The Genesis to the world stage where she will be competing alongside 154 contestants at the Miss World Finale in Mumbai, India on March 9.
The Genesis project, a part of The Lesego Chombo Foundation, focuses on empowering parents in remote communities with the necessary skills and values to raise children as responsible citizens. Chombo expressed her excitement about collaborating with partners such as the Mindset Change Campaign team, Standard Chartered Bank Botswana, and Wilderness Safari to further her project’s impact.
She also conveyed her gratitude to the people of Botswana for their unwavering support during her reign, stating that their prayers have filled her with confidence as she ventures abroad.
Her ambitious promise to bring the crown home showcases her determination.
Miss Botswana Organiser, Benjamin Raletsatsi, highlighted Chombo’s multifaceted talents, describing her as a lawyer, singer, cook, and philanthropist who envisions positive developments for the country.
Chombo’s father, Motswanageng Chombo, urged fellow Batswana to rally behind his daughter and support her in the competition, expressing hope for her success. Additionally, Chombo’s mother, Ditebo Chombo, offered her encouragement, urging her daughter to strive for victory. ENDS
