With only a few weeks left for Miss Botswana to grace the stage alongside other aspiring Miss World contestants in India, the anticipation is building.
The grand finale is set to take place on March 9, and in a recent interview with BOPA, Miss Botswana and the country’s representative at the international pageant, Lesego Chombo shared her thoughts about the preparations.
Chombo assured Batswana that they needed not worry about her wardrobe.
As part of preparation for Miss World finale, last year the Miss Botswana organising team unveiled 12 talented designers who created stunning outfits for the beauty queen.
They worked closely with the queen, creating unique and stunning outfits that highlighted her beauty and style.
Miss Botswana aims to showcase the best of Botswana’s fashion and talent while vying for the coveted Miss World crown.
She said she had been working closely with the designers who created stunning outfits for her.
In fact, she mentioned having two beautiful gowns for the final parade, expressing her utmost satisfaction with her wardrobe.
“I absolutely love my wardrobe.
Just last week, I had fittings for accessories and so on.
I am truly grateful for what I have,” she said.
Chombo disclosed that she had already completed the wardrobe photo-shoot, adding to the excitement surrounding her journey.
Assuring Batswana that she would represent them well, she confidently expressed her readiness to wear the blue and black crown as she mentioned that her eyes were on the ball to bring the Miss World crown home.
Besides working out in the gym consistently throughout the year, she disclosed that she had also been swimming, and doing yoga to be in good shape. She has also been participating in various media engagements.
She said she was thankful that the engagements served as a platform to promote her beauty project titled the Genesis Project, which aims to create a nurturing environment for economically disadvantaged children through a developmental programme that equips their parents with essential skills and behavioural attributes.
During her reign, she visited Metsibotlhoko Primary School in Letlhakeng, where she partnered with her employer, Kebabonye Business Law, to donate school uniform to learners.
In addition, the beauty queen said she hosted children, parents, and the school as part of a developmental exercise.
“During these Beauty With A Purpose (BWAP) sessions we equipped parents with essential skills and behavioural attributes to create a nurturing environment for their children, despite limited means,” she said.
Also, she visited children during the Princess Marina Hospital’s commemoration of International Childhood Cancer Day.
In December, she visited Maothate Learning Centre as part of her BWAP project.
She said she had partnered with Botswana Tourism Organisation to explore and appreciate the country’s stunning tourist attractions in the Kgalagadi and Gakhibane areas. She thanked Batswana who offered their support.
Chombo also serves as the ambassador for KGK diamonds, alongside sports personality, Nigel Amos.
The queen said part of her project included hosting developmental outings for economically disadvantaged children in Maun, which included specialist medical checks, educational activities, and introduction to artistry, the goal being to expose the children to a conducive environment and shape their perspective.
She is set to fly to India on February 17 for the 71st edition of the Miss World pageant to be held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. ENDS
