My Star auditions start Saturday

22 Jan 2024

This year, My Star promises to take the excitement to new heights with the introduction of a two-session audition process.

The first session will serve as a general selection round, where 30 talented contestants will be chosen to advance to the second session.

The lucky individuals will then compete head-to-head for the coveted 16 contract seats, which will outline the terms and conditions of their participation in the show.

Those fortunate enough to secure a contract seat will move forward in the singing talent show, where they will receive professional training, mentorship, and guidance from industry experts.

This invaluable opportunity will help contestants refine their skills and prepare for the intense competition ahead.

With a rich history dating back to 2007, this annual event has become a platform for aspiring singers to showcase their talents and potentially launch their music careers.

The anticipated auditions on January 27 will be held at 9am at the Gaborone Technical College (GTC).

This year the stakes are high, as the winner of My Star 2024 will not only gain recognition and exposure but also walk away with a grand prize of P100 000.

This substantial reward serves as a testament to the show’s commitment to nurturing local talent and providing them with opportunities to shine on both national and international stages.

Over the years, My Star has garnered a reputation for discovering and nurturing talent.

Many past contestants have gone on to achieve remarkable success, with some even securing contracts with prominent companies on an international scale.

The likes of Patricia Madisa working in Spain, Khumo Skwababe and Kennedy Thal who was working in Florida, USA.

This track record of success has solidified the show’s position as a launch pad for aspiring singers, making it a highly sought-after opportunity within the local music industry as it has also funded over 30 Batswana to further their studies.

Requirements for the auditions include a fee of P250, one should be a Motswana with a valid national identity card (Omang), and significantly they should have the voice to captivate the audience.

The organisers of My Star are dedicated to providing a fair and transparent audition process, ensuring that every contestant receives a fair chance to showcase their talent.  The show’s commitment to nurturing local talent and promoting the music industry within the region has earned it a loyal following and widespread support from the community.
