Miss supranational Botswana auditions start

18 Jan 2024

Miss Supranational Botswana is scouting for extraordinary women to audition for the coveted title planned for January 27 and 28 in Gaborone.

One of the organisers, Kaone Moremong told BOPA that this year’s grand finale was scheduled for March 31 and auditions would only be done in Gaborone.

Moremong said last year’s debut was a resounding success and they were able to scout all over Botswana.

She said the next supra queen must be someone with the ability to represent Botswana on the international stage.

“Entry requirements is for a  Motswana woman to have a valid Omang, aged 18 to 30 and her height should be 1.67m, never been married, never given birth and no visible tattoos.

She should have never been convicted of any crime,” Moremong explained.

Aspiring queens, she said, must bring proof of their project or project plan summary of 300-500 words, a brief biography and plain black form fitting clothing.

Giving last year’s Miss Supra recap, Moremong said the event marked Botswana’s first representation at the international level, and Miss Supranational Botswana Dabilo Moses did a good job representing Botswana in Poland.

“Last year was the debut of Miss Supranational Botswana, as well as the first time we were represented at this 3rd largest pageant in the World.

Despite lack of financial support, it was a successful debut,” said Moremong.

She is confident that upcoming Miss Supranational production will be bigger and better.

“Since the first pageant did not have any major sponsors, the founders of Something Big had to bear all the organising costs including sending a country representative to the international stage.

Despite this, our country’s representative performed exceptionally well, placing us in the top 20,” Moremong said.

She stated that Miss Supranational vision emphasised a commitment to providing a platform for the personal development of young women, helping them to better understand their self-worth and value in society.

This, she said, extended beyond the pageant itself, as aspiring Miss Supranational contestants were equipped with valuable skills through a series of workshops.

“We are dedicated to nurturing young women and empowering them to become inspirational leaders by offering various workshops that enable personal growth and self-discovery,” she elaborated.

She also encouraged young Batswana women with leadership aspirations to participate in the pageant, with the aim of winning and growing together.

Moremong said the pageant currently had prizes totalling a value of P100 000 with ongoing negotiations with partners and sponsors to further enhance the prize basket.

On events building up to the grand finale in March, she said the top model and fashion showcase was scheduled for March 2, where the top 30 would be narrowed down to the top 12. ENDS
