Seven primary school pupils will represent Botswana at the Little Mister and Miss World in Malaysia next month.
The seven emerged victorious at the Little Mister and Miss Botswana pageant held in Gaborone on Saturday. The youngest winner is four-years-old and the oldest is 13.
They are Tlotlo Legae, Zinah Chilisa, Aaliyah Shakgale, Elang Phatsima, Katlo Legase, Angela Tsholetsang and Emmanuel Phuthologang while Atira Motshwarapula and Pinkie
Rathebe were declared brand ambassadors.
The pageant director, Botlhale Menyatso said the main sponsors of the pageant were parents who supported the children from the beginning to the final stage. He said they started with 45 contestants and ended up with 19 finalists.
The finalists were from Serowe representing the Central District, Kanye representing the Southern District and Kweneng District represented by Sojwe and Mmopane.
The pageant was all inclusive as some of the competitors were classified as living with disability. Maungo Saziba, a teacher at Orapa Livingstone House said Menyatso was reviving primary schools beauty pageants, and that the competition was not just for entertainment only but to boost children’s self-esteem.
