Thindimba Tuvare makes it to Mr and Miss RADP finale

Mmoloki Thindimba of Ghani and Constance Tuvare of Xaixai beat their fellow contestants to the Mr and Miss RADP titles for the Okavango District Council on Saturday.
The duo will represent the district at the pageant finale.
They did well in the culture and evening gown parades, confidence, stage presence and responses to judges’ questions to win coveted titles.
Thindimba, aged 24, who was trying his luck for the second time said he was happy with the results adding that his never-die-attitude paid off.
Twenty-one-year-old, Tuvare, who made her maiden appearance at the pageant was happy that she won.
Evelyn Ketjimanbo of Qangwa and Atamelang Koshunya of Tobera were crowned first and second princesses respectively while Kenalemang Soria of Xaixai and Uatumbovandu Gabogolelwe are first and second princes.
Meanwhile, Access Bank-Shakawe centre manager, Bob Makgetho, who was guest speaker, said the pageant recognised talent of young men and women from their remote areas.
“Through the pageant, the council is levelling the ground for the young people to show that they can compete with their counterparts from across the country,” he said.
The pageant, which initially started with females only has since incorporated males.
He said Okavango District Council spent P34 000 in the pageant, of which, P17 000 was reserved for prize moneys.
He said the event was also made possible through the generosity of other sponsors such as Botswana Savings Bank.
Okavango District Council acting council secretary, Iris Sitayelo said winners would go and compete in the nationals directly follwing the upgrading of the district from a sub-district to a fully-fledged one.
The council’s chief social and community development officer, Michael Israel said the pageant, whose one of the objectives was to unearth talent from remote areas, targeted females aged between 18-25 and males aged between 18-27.
He said the aim was for the youth to have a role in the economy, to have confidence and compete with counterparts.
The contestants were from Gudigwa, Tobera, Ghani, Chukumuchu, Xaixai and Qangwa. Ends
