Globetrotting duo Team Distant and songstress Samantha Mogwe topped the Botswana Music Union (BOMU)  Nominee Reveal list getting six and five nominations respectively.

All eyes will see how they will fare during the 12th BOMU awards, slated for Royal Aria on December 16. 

The nominees were revealed during an exclusive event at Game City Rooftop on October 31 and BOMU has partnered with Department of Broadcasting Services to hold the awards.

Team Distant’s six nominations include Song of the Year, Best Duo/Group, Most Played Song on Radio, Best Dance Album, Best Collaboration and Best Remix. Mogwe seconded them with five nominations for Best Female, Best Collaboration, Best Music Video, Best RnB and Song of the Year.

Last year’s leading nominee, DJ Ngwazi and DJ KSB, both based in South Africa received four nominations. DJ Ngwazi got nominations for Song of the Year, Best Single, Best Music Video and Best Amapiano and DJ KSB for Best Dance Album, Song of the Year, Best Single and Best Producer.

Other artistes who scored big at the nominations include Han C, Harry Cane, William Last KRM, Lizibo and Veezo View, getting three and two nominations respectively. 

The party to reveal nominees is slowly becoming one of the highlights of the social calendar, attracting BDub’s A-listers in the showbiz space.

The reveal showcased performances from the talented Hapex Guru, keeping the audience soulfully entertained with his mellow afrotech set.

Chef Gustos, a nominee for Most Played Song on Radio also performed,  giving the audience a taste of his new album Expensive Music. 

He upped his performance with some of the vocalists he featured in the album. The multi award winning DJ Ngwazi of the Uthando fame also spiced the night.  

Voting lines have opened and codes are available on all BOMU social media pages. Voters can cast their votes with their favourite artist’s codes to 17272. ENDS
