Utlwanang Matibini has been crowned the first ever Miss Game City at a spectacular finale held at the mall’s roof top on October 20 night and walked away with P35 000 cash and cellular phone gadgets.

The 28-year-old beauty nailed her definition of true beauty and how to promote it. A woman empowerment activist, she said beauty was more than appearances, and that it meant compassion as well as resonating well with others and the ability to shape the world for the better.

“Beauty is found in women because they are versatile,” she said, adding that they also bring change in society.

She won the audience over with her graceful walk and poise, as she explained how beauty brought change in society.

Lesego Makalang, an attendee who was mesmerised by the beauty queen, said she was her favourite and her presence was also felt when she introduced herself.

Matibini described herself as a versatile woman from the land of diamonds and all precious stones. “I am a renegade, my dreams are as sure as the sun that glistens on the African heat.

I am a champion, a winner who basks in the glory of those that conquered before my time,” she said

The first runner-up spot was scooped by Kefilwe Gabonakemo who walked away with P23 000 and Obakeng Garefane was the second-runner up and pocketed P21 000.

Game City manager, Osadi Nthaga thanked everyone for gracing the occasion. She said Game City has stood as a symbol of quality and outstanding retail experience for over two decades. She added that the beauty pageant was part of appreciating Batswana for their continued support.

Miss Game City, Matibini would be their ambassador and would promote the mall as well as educate consumers about the mall’s products and services. She would also be expected to create engaging content.

The pageant saw 30 aspiring beauty queens compete for the crown and contestants of any status, including married women and mothers, people with disability as well as any body type accepted. The pageant was in honour of the shopping mall’s 21st anniversary. ENDS
