President Mokgweetsi Masisi is expected to officiate at this year’s Mbungu Cultural Festival billed for Shakawe on Saturday.

The festival themed: “Ghomu ghayendire mapi mo mbo diyenda dithana” translated as Tlhako ya morago e gata fa ya pele e gatileng teng is organised by Mbungu wa Kathimana Cultural Society.

Speaking in an interview, Mbungu wa Kathimana Society coordinator Benson Dibebe said the society formed in 1991 promoted the Hambukushu culture and collaborated with other cultural organisations.

Dibebe said that from the year 2000, the society has been hosting the annual Mbungu Cultural Festival to realise their mandate.

He said the event would see different performances from Hambukushu traditional groups, a guest group from Hambukushu in Namibia and Wayeyi guest group from Jao to show diversity and unity.

The Hambukushu traditional dances expected are Diware, Thiwinji, Mosaya which is a Hambukushu traditional dance common in Zambia, Kamberera dance, Manderera dance and others.

He said about 30 traditional dance groups were expected from Etsha extension, Ikoga/Sepopa/Kajaja, Nxamasere, Samochima, Shakawe, Kauxwi and Mogotho. ENDS
