 A collaboration by three lifestyle events organisers will see music revellers of varying tastes converge in one place to celebrate everything local in the entertainment space on Botswana’s 57th Independence Day. 

Termed “...at the same damn time…,” the event brings together WhySo and Friends, The Day Club and Piano Sunset events at Duma FM grounds on Saturday.

The three events are the latest in the local showbiz scene and their organisers have previously hosted individual events creating individual cultures. 

“We realised that we somewhat share the same market of audience and all of us have worked together way before we started hosting these events,” said Baanthata ‘Ban T’ Mokgwathi, one of the organisers of “…at the same damn time…”

He noted they did the similar things, but with different vibes to suit their audience. 

He said the independence event was a collaboration they were pushing for among creatives. 

“We are trying to show the creatives in Botswana that it is possible to make something great and beautiful if we all come together. The event name “…at the same damn time…” comes from the fact that all the three events will be happening at the same time at one venue,” said Ban T.

The “…at the same damn time…” event will cater for all music genres and demographics with WhySo and Friends providing hip hop based entertainment. Piano Sunsets, as the name suggests, is for the amapiano crowd whilst The Day Club will dish out the 90s and 2000s rhythm and blues appropriate for the middle working class crowd.

“Altogether we are creating one big conglomerate and we will be celebrating our own on our day on independence day. We will be celebrating local artists, DJs, suppliers and everything will be strictly local,” said Ban T.

He said the end goal was to show Batswana and everyone in the same industry as them that it was possible to fill up a venue when there was a collaboration and with strictly local talent. “That is why we do not have any international act on our line-up.”

Veezo View and Ban T, TeddyIsNotaDj, Dj Fauz, MaxcWaBana and Hapex Guru are some of the acts who will be entertaining at the “…at the same damn time…” independence edition. Tickets for the event are sold at P150 and are available at webtickets and Spar outlets nationwide. ENDS
