Renowned dance troupe, New Moon, is set to host their latest production dubbed To Be You, at Showcase, Molapo Crossing in Gaborone from August 9- 11.

To be You is a must watch given its compelling multi-disciplinary dances.

New Moon will display a fusion of various dance styles featuring Contemporary, Hip Hop, Afro-Fusion, Afrobeats, Traditional, and Ballroom Dance.

In an interview, New Moon Director, Moratiwa Molema explained that the innovative production aimed to highlight the choreographic creativity and talent of its dancers without any boundaries or limitations.

“One of the event’s highlights is the presentation of ‘Afro Blue’ a riveting multi-media offering where Tsutsube (Setswana traditional dance) meets Afro-Cuban Jazz, directed by myself and Andrew Chinganga, a famed saxophone virtuoso, will lead an eight-piece jazz band, accompanying the stunning combination of dance and video art,” she said.

Adding to the auditory delight, Moratiwa said local songstress Nicole Martinez would bless the microphone during the Afro Blue performance.

“I appeal to the public to take advantage of this opportunity to experience a visual spectacle of dance and culture as the show is set to be a visual feast for attendees, young and old,” she said.

The New Moon collective, established in 2013 by director, producer and manager, Molema, has had an outstanding journey of performances across the globe, gracing prestigious events such as the Hugh Masekela Heritage Festival in Johannesburg, National Arts Festival South Africa, Story Moja Literature Festival in Nairobi, and Kritiya Poetry Festival in Kerela, India.
