Last Man Standing show November 4

31 Jul 2023

Odirile Sento, aka Vee Mampeezy or Vee, is yet to treat his fans to another exciting show dubbed Last Man Standing to be held at the Game City Rooftop on November 4.

Vee announced the date for the show, which was debuted last year, at a donation ceremony and media tour recently, during which he donated a 2006 Mazda 3 to Francistown-based DJ Bafana Gabaeme.

He explained that they had this year changed the venue for the show, which was held at the National Stadium last year to Game City due to exorbitant fees charged for the facility.

He added that while they awaited corporate sponsors to recover from the COVID-19 after-effects, they would continue to look for alternative and affordable venues which would also be able to accommodate large crowds.

“Hosting at the National Stadium is also a way of showing Batswana that local acts are capable of pulling crowds without any international acts,” he said nonetheless.

Handing over the vehicle, Vee, who is a songwriter and also Lamalanga and Black Money Makers records CEO, said upcoming artistes were faced with a number of challenges at the start of their showbiz careers, hence his decision to gift them cars.

He said the vehicle he recently donated was the second after the Molepolole one to another upcoming artist.

“My partners, Cool Pub Establishment and I buy these cars from our pockets.

We used to charge promoters more money as a way of covering for transport because we did not have a mode of transport to travel to shows after being booked.

So because of the experiences we have encountered in the past, we do not wish that for any deserving hard working upcoming musicians in the country,” he said.

Zenzele Hirschfield, also known as Zen in the music circles and was once Vee’s manager, praised him for the philanthropist deeds and how he continued to impact on the lives of many.

“Artistes such as Vee are a treasure. He is an agent of change. His strength always surpasses his weaknesses. He continues to make an impact on the lives of this generation and being their role model,” Zen said.

She also urged young Batswana artistes to make relevant music which would tell the Botswana story and stay true to their roots.

“People should be able to identify Botswana in the rhythm and beat of the songs composed by Batswana musicians,” she said.

Receiving the vehicle, a thrilled DJ Bafana, who is wheelchair bound, thanked Vee for the gesture and shared how he had always wanted to own a Mazda 3 hatchback.

“Since I started my career in music in 2014, I vowed I would one day own a Mazda hatchback,” he said.

After receiving the vehicle’s blue book, DJ Bafana announced that he would stage a show dubbed, Hands and Feet, at Molapo Leisure Gardens in Francistown on August 26.

He said he would use the proceeds from the show to, among others, upgrade his wheelchair so that he did not rely on other people for mobility. ENDS
