Ikgalaletse Gospel Show August 26
23 Jul 2023
Pre-event preparations are taking shape ahead of Ikgalaletse Gospel Show, which will be held on August 26 at the Royal Aria in Tlokweng.
The festival will be headlined by the South African Tshwane Gospel Choir, Sechaba Pali, Thinah Zungu, Takesure Zamar Ncube, Sesame, Omega Khounou, Vusi Mtokufa, and Chris Willie.
Speaking at a press briefing in Gaborone on July 21, Ikgalaletse Gospel Show director Bakang Pusoetsile said the event was meant to build and grow the gospel group by tapping into mentorship from one of South Africa’s biggest gospel choirs.
“We will be helping this group with their album recordings and launch every year in order for them to grow in the music industry and through the influence of the South African choir with the hope that they will have an opportunity to be booked to perform across the world.”
Furthermore, Pusoetsile said that they would be helping individuals from the group to also record and launch their own albums.
“Our other dream is to start a gospel band with the Botswana Prisons Service in collaboration with other local artistes to assist prisoners who are passionate about music to be trained on how to play musical instruments and build their own careers,” added Pusoetsile.
For his part, event consultant Mr Mogomotsi Gaolape expressed satisfaction that preparations were on track.
He said security personnel would be engaged while food stalls would also be available at the convenience of the spectators, adding that two ambulances would be on standby for any emergencies.
Tickets are available for sale at Webtickets.
As a means of giving back to the community, the event managers are working on a project to give hampers to the prisons to show them that there is life in Christ and to help them deal with rejection that comes after prison. ENDS
